172 Stippling designs in all shapes and sizes. There are 3 loop sizes for each stippling design. Use the designs with running stitches for quilting with any kind of batting and fabric underneath. Some of the stippling designs also stitch in backstitch, which give a more textured look and which is ideal for cutting up and to be used in crazy patchwork. For the large hoop sizes there are also a few stippling designs which stitch in three colors. Embroider these designs in 3 colors without any stabilizer and afterwards you can even wash it to give a more textured effect. You can create lovely pieces of textured fabric this way. I will show you samples at the bottom of the page. The smaler stippling designs can be used as a background for embroidery designs. |

Ideas on how to use these designs.
I love stippling and I am quite a boffin by doing it freehand with my sewing machine and also to use it in more creative ways than just using it for quilting. Therefore I also like it to do stippling in diferent loop sizes. The smaller or more dense the loops are, the more it shows contrasting thread colors on lighter fabrics. Stippling designs with the large loops or loop size 9, you can use to pre-quilt quilt blocks or for other projects like pillows and wall hangings. |

The images above are of the different loop sizes done in backstitch. Below are samples of loops 5, 7 and 9 on printed fabric and using the stippling designs with a single running stitch. For dark printed fabrics, use lighter thread colors and for light printed fabrics use darker thread colors. If you want the stippling to really show off in your projects, use the stippling with backstitches. This will also give a more textured look. |
Above are samples of stippling done with three layers of stippling in 3 different colors. Do this kind of stippling without any stabilizer at all and if you want a more crinkled effect, also don't hoop the fabric tight at all. The more the fabric pull inside the hoop, the more crinkled the fabric will look like. This self made fabric looks very good in crazy patchwork projects and also in applique designs. Below are more samples of stippling done with different thread colors and also show the color diffrence between stippling with running stitch and stippling with backstitch. |
I have made this ball above many years ago and the stippling I did with my sewing machine. The stippling below was with one of the stippling designs in this set.
